At age 5, August got his first bike as a birthday present and started to ride the dirt bike every day at his home tracks. For the first year, Robert, his youngest brother, acted as a mechanic, later on deciding to try out riding himself. 

Since day one, brothers were both the best training buddies and biggest competitors on and off the track. Robert was pushing hard to beat the older brother, but Augusts was working very hard to not let hiss younger brother pass!

Moving to bigger cc class brothers started off by racing for fun, later on entering Latvian and Dutch Championships, where they showed great speed and strength. In their junior career both brothers were successful, winning European, Dutch and Latvian Championships.
